MASSAGE TECHNIQUES

Well how many of you just don’t know how to massage or would like to know a few tips on massaging. This was a suggestion by on of my readers  to do a post on this giving general tips on the best way to give a massage. With Valentines coming up I think that all lot of you could do with a little relaxation or perhaps to treat your other half to some bliss. This is also a good idea for ‘Mothers Day’ and great if you are on a budget !

Now if you’re not comfortable with doing a typical’ back massage there are other areas that are just as relaxing  – hand and arm, feet, lower leg, shoulders, head and scalp or  a face massage. You can use either oil or cream to do this, make sure they say it’s for massaging as they are made to be movable on the skin….easier to glide and use.

Whatever area you choose to do set the right atmosphere, If you want it to be special and be a memorable experience.Make sure they are comfortable how they are sitting or lying down. Think of maybe playing some relaxing music in the background and having a warm room.  Nothing worse than being freezing cold and having a massage. Oh and make sure your hands are warm and your nails aren’t to ‘claw like’…….long !

Always use slow movements…slow, movements…slow. Curve your hand around the area you are massaging and try not to lift off any part of your hand if it’s not necessary. Keep constant contact with the skin and be firm but don’t dig into skin. Use the palm of your hand to do circular  and kneading movements. Try not to massage on top of bones but along the sides is ok just not too much pressure. Fleshy areas are generally easier to knead and massage.  Ask if the pressure is ok, you don’t want to cause pain of discomfort but on the other hand you don’t want to tickle the skin and be too gentle. Repeating the same movements is ok so don’t worry if you run out of different ones. When someone is having a massage they are normally that relaxed and sleepy they don’t remember anyway.

So enjoy whatever you decide to do, and treat yourself, treat a family member or friend to some ‘special time out’ without breaking the bank. Beauty doesn’t have to  be expensive remember xx

  1. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and everything. Nevertheless think about if you added some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this site could undeniably be one of the very best in its field. Awesome blog!
